*The name change is a reflection of the merging of the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center and the Clay County Historical Society. The building name, the Hjemkomst Center, remains the same.

The Clay County Historical Society and the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center are now officially merged to become the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County with a mission to preserve, interpret and celebrate the history and culture of Clay County and the region.

This facility provides interpretation of the Hjemkomst Viking Ship, Hopperstad Stave Church Replica, Red River Valley Exhibition, Clay County Museum and Archives and hosts traveling exhibits in 7,000 sq. feet of temporary exhibition space.

HJEMKOMST (Yem-komst) Norwegian for Homecoming 

The Hjemkomst Center also houses the Fargo Moorhead Chamber of Commerce.
Moorhead's Hopperstad Stave Church is located near the Hjemkomst Center.
